2. How We Use Cookies
Previe uses cookies exclusively for operational purposes: to keep you authenticated and to secure platform connection flows. We do not use cookies for advertising, retargeting, behavioral tracking, or analytics profiling.
All cookies set by Previe directly are either session cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or short-lived security cookies. We do not set any persistent tracking cookies.
3. Essential Cookies
These cookies are strictly necessary for Previe to function. The Service cannot operate without them. Because they are essential, they do not require your consent under most privacy regulations.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
sb-[ref]-auth-tokenSupabase · HTTP-only, Secure | Stores your authentication session. Required to keep you logged in as you navigate the app. | Session / up to 1 week |
x_oauth, li_oauth, fb_oauth, ig_oauth, yt_oauth, tt_oauth, threads_oauthPrevie · HTTP-only, Secure, SameSite=Lax | Temporary state tokens used during social media platform connection flows to prevent cross-site request forgery (CSRF). Deleted immediately after the connection completes or expires. | 10 minutes (max) |
4. Functional Browser Storage (Not Cookies)
Previe uses browser storage APIs that are distinct from cookies but worth explaining for full transparency:
localStorage
- previe_entries: your content entries (titles, captions, notes, media metadata)
- previe_device_id: a randomly generated identifier for your device, used for the media reference feature
- previe_device_name: the name you've assigned to this device (e.g., "MacBook Pro")
- previe_splash: session flag indicating the splash screen has already shown this session
IndexedDB
Media files you upload (photos, videos) are stored in your browser's IndexedDB under the database name previe_media. These files never leave your device unless cloud sync is enabled.
sessionStorage
- previe_splash: tracks whether the intro splash screen has been shown in the current browser session
None of this locally stored data is accessible to us, to third parties, or to other websites. It exists solely on your device.
5. Third-Party Cookies
Supabase
Supabase sets authentication cookies (prefixed with sb-) to manage your login session. These are essential for the Service to function. See Supabase's privacy policy at supabase.com/privacy.
Cloudflare Turnstile
Cloudflare Turnstile is used on our authentication forms (sign up, log in, forgot password) to distinguish human users from bots. Turnstile is designed to be privacy-preserving: it does not set persistent tracking cookies and does not build behavioral profiles. It may set a short-lived functional cookie during the verification challenge. See Cloudflare's privacy policy at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
Social Media Platforms
When you click "Connect" for a social media platform, you are redirected to that platform's website to authorize the connection. During that redirect, the platform may set its own cookies according to its own cookie policy. Previe has no control over cookies set by external platforms. Once you return to Previe, only a short-lived state token cookie remains, which is deleted immediately after the authorization completes.
6. What We Don't Use
To be completely clear about what Previe does NOT do:
- No advertising or retargeting cookies: we do not run ad campaigns and do not allow ad networks to set cookies
- No cross-site tracking: we do not track you across other websites
- No analytics cookies: we do not use Google Analytics, Mixpanel, or similar tools that track user behavior
- No social media pixels: we do not embed tracking pixels from Facebook, TikTok, or any other platform on our website
- No A/B testing cookies: we do not use cookie-based split testing tools
- No fingerprinting: we do not use browser fingerprinting to identify you
7. Managing Cookies
Browser Settings
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to view, block, and delete cookies. Note that blocking essential cookies will prevent Previe from functioning: you will not be able to log in or stay authenticated.
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Firefox: Options → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions
Clearing Local Storage
You can clear Previe's localStorage and IndexedDB through your browser's developer tools (Application → Storage). Note that doing so will permanently delete all locally stored content entries and media files. This action is irreversible.
Revoking Platform Connections
To remove stored access tokens for connected social media platforms, go to Settings → Social Platforms and click "Disconnect" next to each platform. You should also revoke the app authorization directly in each platform's settings.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in the Service or applicable regulations. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
